California Bill Number: AB 1896

This bill will regulate gamete banks in this state to provide specified information regarding, among other things, the limitations of donor screening and that some donor-conceived persons are or may be interested in contact with the donor whose gametes were used for their conception, to individuals obtaining donor gametes or donor embryos in order to conceive children.

It was voted do pass on 8/22/22, read a second time, and ordered to a third reading. On 8/24/22, it was read a third time, amended, and ordered to a second reading. On 8/25/22, it was read a second time and ordered to a third reading. AB-1896 was ordered to a special consent calendar on 8/30/22 and on 8/31/22, it was read a third time, passed, ordered to assembly, and Senate amendments were concurred in.
