About Risa A. Levine

About Risa A. Levine

Risa LevineAfter becoming a fertility patient in 2004, Ms. Risa A. Levine began working to secure federal insurance coverage for infertility treatment and then worked closely with RESOLVE advocating for a bill called The Family Act, which provided a tax credit for medical expenses incurred for infertility treatment. Since then, she has played key roles in promoting the need for recognition of the disease of infertility and gaining IVF coverage for veterans. This year, Risa was instrumental in having coverage for IVF included in the New York State budget, thereby providing access to treatment for an additional 2.5 million New Yorkers.

Risa continues to work on legalizing compensated gestational surrogacy arrangements in New York State and is committed to making permanent full coverage for infertility treatment and additional family building opportunities for veterans injured in the line of duty. Following her own losing battle to keep her embryos in her divorce, Risa is dedicated to legislative change that would enable a party to keep his/her embryos as they desire. She served as Chair of RESOLVE’s Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2010, she chaired RESOLVE’s Congressional Briefing. Risa has represented RESOLVE in numerous television and other media appearances. Risa is a passionate believer in grassroots activism and was honored by RESOLVE with the Hope Award for Advocacy in 2010.

While managing her own law practice, Risa has remained active in various communal, philanthropic and political organizations. She was recently elected Vice President of the Brandeis University Alumni Association Board of Directors, her alma mater. Risa was a “Hillblazer” and member of the Hillary for America Finance Committee for her 2008 and 2016 presidential bids, and has served on the Finance Committees of numerous New York State and Federal candidates. Currently, she serves on the Finance Committee of Presidential Candidate Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Judaism and Democracy Action Alliance of North America, Inc.

Risa is a cum laude graduate of Brandeis University, where she double majored in English and Sociology; she received her law degree from Fordham University School of Law. Risa was elected to the RESOLVE Board of Directors in 2011. Risa is an attorney practicing in New York in the area of commercial and residential transactional real estate.
