The New York State legislature ends its 2-year session this week on Wednesday. We’ve been working around the clock with our champions in the Assembly and Senate to get our bill passed. We are fighting for New York families and we don’t want anyone to forget that. That is why we need you to help us today to remind the Senate and the Assembly how important their support is of this bill.

When the legislative session ends, so does FAFTA. If it does not pass the legislature this week, we have to start over. We need you to make 3 phone calls today.

First, call Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie’s office, whose phone number is 518.455.3791. Tell him this: “I am a New York resident and I urge you and the Assembly to work with the Senate to get the Fair Access to Fertility Treatment Act passed this week. New York families deserve better. Thank you.

Now call your elected officials. Here’s how to make your calls:

  1. Go to https://openstates.org/ and add your address; you’ll get the contact info for your Assemblymember and state Senator.
  2. Pick up that phone and call both of your legislators.
  3. Introduce yourself to the person who answers, and say “As a constituent and a voter, I’m calling to urge your office to get the Fair Access to Fertility Treatment Act passed this week. Please work together to get a bill passed for all New York families. Thank you.”

If you haven’t participated in our efforts to help pass FAFTA, there is no time like the present. And if you’ve been calling and sending letters, we need you to call again. Your voice indeed makes a difference.

It’s time we change the outdated New York insurance law to include IVF for all and fertility preservation for cancer patients. Don’t look back and regret not doing something; your voice – as a New Yorker – matters more than ever. Make those 3 calls today, and urge your friends and family who live in New York to do the same today.
