Commentary: Books, support group can help with fertility treatment

Another great place to find help is a RESOLVE support group. Initially, my husband and I were reluctant to consider a support group; however, we found it incredibly valuable.

RESOLVE support groups are led by people who have been through fertility treatment. Each week, we would begin the meeting with a new and highly relevant topic. Our group consisted of couples in all phases of the fertility journey. Long after the official support group ended, we continued to meet. Most of us managed to have kids.

In a RESOLVE group, everyone gets the chance to talk about the topic of the day. Thus, when you speak to the group, your partner hears what you are thinking and feeling. Other group members often validate your experience.
